Artist Dina Gregory paints on location using soft pastels. 

Dina's plein air landscapes reflect her love for nature. The immediacy of pastels allows the Texas artist to capture and share fleeting moments of beauty. In her art, this remarkably passionate southwest plein air painter conveys the connection between God, Man and Nature.

Dina Gregory paints what she sees around her, but, like most landscape painters, she has her favorite locales. The native Texan feels most attuned to her subject when she's painting on location on her own Bosque acreage near Glen Rose, Texas. 

Palo Duro Canyon in the Texas Panhandle, Texas Hill Country, and Big Bend National Park in West Texas are other favorite subjects.  Dina's sensitivity toward her subject is especially apparent when she paints water and sky, or when she focuses on the surprises found in intimate pockets of nature.

The plein air painter is adept at using strong values to create drama: Her landscapes are patterned with bright lights and deep darks. In many of her paintings, Dina Gregory documents scenes later destroyed or forever altered by floods or by drought.  Putting this visual history of the diverse Texas landscape onto canvas is integral to her plein air journey. Dina's sensitivity to natural history is among the reasons this talented painter was selected to hang her art at Old Spanish Trail Gallery and Museum.
