A rare opportunity to immerse yourself in painting while surrounded by museum quality fine art in a gallery high in the mountains of Far West Texas!

Learn new techniques and polish old ones in a relaxed, elegant setting with an intense schedule. Simply be an artist for a few days while expanding your skills and enjoying the view and the company of other painters and Big Bend artist Lindy Cook Severns, who is known for her information-packed classes and personal attention.
Appropriate for artists of all levels. Experience with pastels or landscape painting isn’t necessary. While basic drawing skills are presumed, this class is structured around the individual needs and abilities of each student. You will learn what you’re ready to learn.

Class fee includes three intense days of Instruction and Painting, plus two optional days with unstructured activities. Each artist is welcome to bring a guest to all social events, meals or hikes.

gallery opens at 8:15 for supply set up for those who couldn’t make it on Thursday evening

8:30-9 Coffee and Tea in the gallery while you visit, paint or porch-sit

9 am til 4 or 5 pm* Class Time
Class starts promptly at 9 each day.
Quitting time will vary, but you will receive 6 full hours of instruction and attention daily
*the Gallery opens at 8:30 each morning and closes at the end of class each afternoon. (No after-hours painting)
Mornings: Lecture, Instruction and Demo followed by a break for lunch and light exploring
Afternoons: Artists work independently with lots of Lindy’s individual attention

This is an indoor workshop. Easels and tables will be provided for each artist. Artists are welcome to paint on the gallery porches, weather permitting, but you must bring your own plein air easel.
Saturday evening: Roxa’s Ranch Dinner at headquarters, relaxed hospitality for artists and their guests in a lovely setting most folks will never experience
Monday Oct. 28
Optional: Time In Nature, dawn ‘til noon
Hike the surrounding mountains, take photos, draw or paint outdoors on your own. (The gallery will NOT be open, and Lindy will likely be comatose by then.) No instruction, no guidance, no schedule—this is simply a final chance to soak in the beauty of the Davis Mountains!

LODGING and MEALS
​
Limited on-site lodging is available but you must arrange that separately thru Roxa at Crows Nest Ranch (432) 426-3300 or (432) 426-3343. The gallery cannot make reservations for you nor answer questions about lodging.
​
Meals, with the delightful exceptions noted above, are not included in the class. Old Spanish Trail Gallery & Museum is on a working ranch miles 15-20 minutes drive from Fort Davis, Texas. During the workshop, the gallery will be open during the lunch break. There are tables and chairs, two refrigerators to store picnic lunches in, and a microwave. Bring a sack lunch* or purchase light fare we'll have on hand for a nominal fee.

Artists often enjoy meeting for dinners in in one of the colorful area towns.
