Using a backdrop from pictures I'd taken on a trip to Montana, I incorporated a team of horses into the scene that did not exist when I took the photograph. In this oil painting, I met the challenge of using the same atmospheric colors in the scene on the horses to provide a unified composition. I called this painting "Freedom" as I wanted to highlight the liberty once prevalent when these animals roamed freely.
