Frequently seeing this animal around home, it would not be normal if I didn't paint this signature piece of Texas' ecosystem. I incorporated a balance of cool and warm colors on the buck, but was careful to mute down the vibrancy even in areas where the highlights are. I added subtle rocks and terrain to compliment the green out-of-focus background.
As with all my oil paintings, a final varnish gives this artwork a rich patina.
